What is HCA?

What is classical Christian education?

Classical Christian education is a time-tested educational system which establishes a biblical worldview, incorporates methods based on natural phases of child development, cultivates the seven Christian virtues, trains students in reasoning through the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric).

Foundational Beliefs

We believe the Bible is God’s Word and our final authority. There is one God in three persons. Jesus is God’s Son who died and rose to save us. Salvation is by grace through faith, shown by good works. The Holy Spirit helps us live for God. Life is sacred, marriage is between one man and one woman.

We Use a Biblical Framework to Understand Everything
This is more than adding a bible verse to the curriculum. When history, science, math, philosophy, art, and other subjects are integrated around the truth that God is the Creator of all that exists, and therefore all knowledge is interrelated and points back to Him.
Goals for “A Classical and Christ-Centered Education”

We are Christ-centered by teaching all subjects through a biblical lens, modeling a Christian life through our staff and board, and guiding students to grow in their relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We are classical in approach by focusing on grammar, logic, and rhetoric, fostering a love for learning, and maintaining an orderly environment that supports academic growth.

A Heart for Helping

As we walk alongside students with medical or dietary challenges, we are reminded of Scripture’s call to care for one another.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

Jesus Himself set the ultimate example of compassion, frequently stopping to help and heal those who were sick or overlooked. In Mark 2, we read of four friends who went to great lengths to bring a paralyzed man to Jesus—tearing through a roof to ensure their friend could be helped. It is a powerful picture of community support and love in action.

In that same spirit, please remember that our school facilities are a completely NUT-FREE environment. This policy is in place to protect students with severe allergies and requires the cooperation of our entire school community.

Let us be the kind of community willing to make adjustments and go the extra mile so that every student can learn and thrive safely.

Thank you for partnering with us to foster a school culture that reflects Christ’s love in both word and deed.

Hillside Christian Academy partners with families who profess personal faith in Jesus Christ and are living their lives under the authority of God’s Word.

Why Christian Education?

Testimonials

We’re so grateful for Hillside Christian Academy. It is a trusted school where biblical truth is woven into every part of the day. The curriculum is rigorous and stands apart. We’ve been very impressed. Small class sizes foster strong relationships and individualized attention. The school is well‑structured: students are supported, held accountable, and our child loves going each day. The school is warm and grounded in faith!

There are a lot of things to love here at Hillside. I love the people I work with, and they are the best support system I’ve ever worked with in my whole career. Wonderful students and families. We are truly building something so wonderful here at Hillside.

— Mrs. Griffith

Hillside Christian Academy is an excellent school that helps children learn academically and religiously. My son has only grown since switching from public school and we’re thankful for the staff that have helped us along our way.

As a professional educator, making the leap from public education to a private Christian school that reinforces what we teach at home has been a beautiful decision. Having seen firsthand the limitations placed on teachers and students within public school systems, I’m incredibly grateful for the freedom and intentionality we’ve found here. The fact that my Pre-K student was learning phonics—rather than waiting until kindergarten—only helped set her ahead.

— Bethany

We took the leap from Public to Private school because one of our children was needing more advanced material and the other needed more one on one attention. With being 2e (twice exceptional:giftedness and disabilities,) both kids fit right in. Public school refused to move my son up a grade level and within 3 months, he was moved up a grade level due to his performance. Our daughter is in a very small classroom and receives way more attention than public school was able to offer her. She is being pushed to her potential now at Hillside. We have seen huge improvements in handwriting with their “pretty handwriting” curriculum. We love that they teach Greek, music history, and art history, with a wonderful music program. The music program puts on a show for Christmas and Easter. Everyday they have a Chapel chat that focuses on the Bible and everyday life. Each week they learn a new Bible verse, along with learning the books of the Bible, the 10 commandments and spelling words that go along with their literature. There is a zero bullying policy and we have seen such an improvement in their peers and how the children come home with wholesome topics discussed at school. Overall we are totally satisfied with our switch and the Hope Scholarship that has made this happen for our family. Don’t hesitate to reach out on Facebook to schedule your tour today!
